It says 'freedom isn't free'.  I say yep.  I was wondering what the guy walking the beach with a weird metal stick was doing... it was this.  

And today:

Someone in the family posted this on Instagram (which I don't have) and my sister texted a copy.  My grandma is 3rd from the left, top row.  I have never seen this photo before.  

Anyway, it sent me down a rabbit hole looking for my other grandma, who somehow managed to not get recorded in the 1940 (with her parents) or 1950 (married to my grandpa with one child) census.  It is the most irritating thing...  Did she do it on purpose?  At the moment I'm trying to find out where she went to school, because in 1940 she would have been 15 and in high school so there should be records. Maybe?   

Also, the whole "walked to school uphill in the snow" stories... From my limited info looks like she had to walk a whole two blocks and it definitely was not uphill!  It was Minnesota, so the snow part was probably true though.

I have been temporarily promoted at work.  The new job tasks include prepping things like muffin batter for 1000.   Ironically, I applied for this job and didn't get it.  End date I was told was probably the end of September, but I might have been eavesdropping and heard it could be longer.  Who knew working five hours instead of three would be so much more work!   

Clouds over track practice yesterday afternoon.  

It has been... a week, I'm exhausted, forgot to take my allergy pill last night (I wondered why I couldn't fall asleep) and have not done anything except work, sleep, and mom this week.  I'd say TGIF but this weekend has plans in it.

On the Last Day of Summer Vacation...

 Well, technically it's Tuesday, but I have a mandatory work meeting/potluck tomorrow.

Life recently.  In random order.  

Playing The Bloody Inn with the family.  I don't know why this is in black and white.  We have been rewatching Fraiser and I know it's the Nightmare Inn on the show, but it's The Bloody Inn in the game and my head.  

Recent trip to our local park/polluted lake.  Yum!

The husband has had this bag since before we met.  All the zippers finally kicked the bucket.  Good bye ugly bag. 

My recent inability to read recipes, the ingredients labels on packages, and page numbers is old age, not my far-sightedness according to my new eye doctor.  I'm getting new glasses.  This is me messing around online with an app, I actually ordered them from my doctor's office, they just aren't here yet.  

Come on tomatoes, turn red already!

The stupid TV keeps restricting my access to watch perfectly family friendly shows.  Grrr.  Anyone know how to make it stop?  Factory resetting the TV did not work.  The downstairs TV is fine, it's only the upstairs one that's stupid.

The oldest, all packed for college.  The rental car was a Toyota (usually we end up with a Nissan Rogue) which the husband is in love with.

Someone turned 13.
